As a participant in the New Arts Writer Program, led by editor Ole Bak Jakobsen at kunsten.nu (now Art Matter), I contributed several published articles between 2022 and 2023. My writing explored key themes in contemporary art, offering critical insights and fresh perspectives to a broader audience.

"The intention is to offer an expanded perspective on Danishness".

Julienne Doko is the choreographer behind the exhibition Embodied Journeys, which explores the gaze on the Black body through art, dance, and performance. "Skin colour in itself means nothing, but it has gained significance due to history and colonialism," she explains in this interview.

The idea of the museum as an 'aesthetic haven' is no longer viable. SMK must re-engage in the debate!

The documentary White Balls on Walls addresses the lack of diversity and blind spots in terms of representation at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, and how its director and team are working to correct this. The film invites reflection on how these issues are tackled within Denmark, leading to a call for action: the Statens Museum for Kunst (SMK) – with a new director at the helm – must once again step into the contact zone to continue challenging the limited artistic expression.

Maria Meinild’s chair play is a surreal experience.

Do you ever talk to chairs? Maria Meinild’s exhibition New Feeling at Den Frie Udstillingsbygning invites thoughtful dialogue with objects. Through video and installation art, she unfolds a social-psychological object theatre that presents strangely enchanting role-playing scenarios.
